The Croatian midfielder of Real Madrid Luka Modric became the best footall player in the season 2017/2018, according to UEFA. The winner was announced by UEFA President Alexander Ceferin  during the draw of the Champions League. The ceremony took place in Monaco on August 30.

This year Modric with Real Madrid won for the third time in a row the Champions League, also together with the national team of Croatia took the 2nd place  at the World Cup 2018 in Russia, where he was awarded as the best player of the World Cup.

Portuguese forward Cristiano Ronaldo and Egyptian striker Mohamed Salah were also the nominees for the title of the best football player of the year.

Previously it was reported that Keylor Navas was recognized as the best goalkeeper of the year, Sergio Ramos became the best defender and Luka Modric became the Best midfielder.

Cristiano Ronaldo, the player of Juventus, was recognized as the best. However, the star did not appear at the ceremony as he had already known the result before it.
