Gary Mabbutt, a former defender of Tottenham and the national team of England, told the Telegraph, how he was attacked by a rat during a trip to South Africa.

The story took place in Kruger National Park, where a former football player came to visit his daughter. At night the rat sneaked into the bed of the athlete and began to chew on his foot. Mabbutt suffers from diabetes, so he did not feel any pain and found the wound only in the morning.

“The rat injured me quite seriously. It chewed my finger to the bone and ate most of the lower part of my  foot.  When I returned to England, I had to spend 6 weeks in the hospital, fearing potential blood poisoning, ” – said Mabbut in an interview.

Gary Mabbutt played in Tottenham Hotspur FC from 1982 to 1998 and took part in 16 matches for the national team of England. He has scored 27 goals in 477 matches in his career.
