After the successful use of VAR video replays at the World Cup 2018 in Russia, UEFA plans to implement a video assistance system for referees, starting with the Champions League quarter-finals.

The use of this system will help to avoid significant referee mistakes  in the crunch games of the tournament – reports The Times.

This issue will be discussed in September at a meeting of the European Club  Association. UEFA also plans to use the VAR technology at the European Championship in 2020. In case of a positive decision, UEFA will refuse from additional judges outside the gate.
