The Royal Club lost in the match of the International Cup for the first time in 18 years. Atletico beat Real Madrid (4:2) in the added  time in the match for the UEFA super Cup and won the trophy for the third time in its history of the club.

The meeting of the current Champions League and Europa League winners was held in Tallinn on Wednesday, August 15. Diego Costa opened the scoring at the 1st minute. His goal was the fastest one in the history of the tournament. However, the forward of Real Madrid Karim Benzema managed to even the score at the 27th minute of the match. On the 63rd minute Sergio Ramos scored  the penalty, but on the 73rd minute Costa leveled the score. In added time midfielder of Atletico  Saul Niguez scored one more goal for his team (th 98th minute). The goal scored by Koke in the 104th minute, ended the match with the final score 4: 2.

Previously Atletico won UEFA Super Cup in 2010 and 2012.
